The Few. The Proud.
The
Mentors!
Yes,
we're looking for a few good men -- and women!
We would like to hear from experienced Alabama
court reporters, CART providers, and captioners
who are willing to give something back to a
profession that has given them so much.
Court Reporting is an exciting and challenging
profession that provides a lifelong opportunity
for learning and growth. With that philosophy in
mind, ACRA has established its own Student
Mentoring Program, designed to support Alabama
court reporting students by offering them
guidance, encouragement, and support.
If you are one of those special people who would
like to help the next generation of reporters
reach their goals, then we would like to hear
from you.
What is required: An open mind and a giving
heart... And an email account! You should be
available to your assigned student and answer
e-mails promptly. If possible, meet with your
student at an ACRA convention or conference.
Take your student to lunch. Send words of
congratulations and words of encouragement when
they need it. In other words, be a friend! You
should set a professional example for students
at all times.
With your commitment and support, you will
enable a promising student to flourish and to
one day join the ranks of our association of
professional working reporters! They are eagerly
looking to us to help fill in some of their
blanks.
If you are interested in becoming a mentor for
ACRA, please email
Jennifer Kissic.
