GSCC and the Veterans History Project

The Gadsden State Community College Realtime Reporting Program is participating in a Veterans History Project on November 10.  They will be recording oral histories of veterans from the community. 

Terri Towe, realtime reporting instructor, and Janet Hereford, official court reporter, have met with some notable veterans in the area to begin the project.  On November 10, they will interview other veterans and transcribe their historical stories which will be submitted to the National Court Reporters Association.  The association will then send the historical documents to the Library of Congress.  In 2003 the National Court Reporters Association partnered with the Library of Congress to bring this project to fruition.  To date, the court reporters have transcribed over 2,000 oral histories.
