ACRA no longer certifies court reporters as Certified
Shorthand Reporters. The Certified Court Reporter (CCR) designation will
be administered by the Alabama Board of Court Reporting. The Alabama Board of Court Reporting will be responsible for CCR testing
and licensing of court reporters who practice in the State of Alabama.

In addition to passing the CCR Examination, all CCR candidates will be
required to pass the RPR Written Knowledge Examination before CCR status can be
attained. Test candidates must pass the ABCR CCR skills test, consisting of:
- 180 wpm Literary Matter
- 200 wpm Jury Charge
- 225 wpm Q&A
Testing fees are TBA.
Reminder: Unauthorized use of the "CSR" designation is prohibited by ACRA
and Alabama Law.
